The Cost of War

With the rising cost of the war and the incredible number of natural disasters that require relief efforts, I’ve considered creating a Cost of War Calculator. What it would do is take a dollar amount of something that we can barely afford and calculate how many days in Iraq would cover the costs. An example would be the ~27 $billion that insurance companies estimate will be necessary to cover the natural disasters in Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi but may not be able to cover; the calculator would estimate how many days we’re paying for in Iraq that could cover that expense.

I’m still thinking of doing it. In the interim, though, I did find another cost of war calculator, sorta. It gives a running count of the dollars we’re spending on the War and offers comparisons to things the US simply can’t afford because of it. Effective, yep, but I think I could do something better.
