If you’re American and you don’t vote today…

…you’re no longer allowed to read my blog.

So there.

Update [12:37 p.m.]: Aw, COME ON people… How long does it take to plug in a voting machine and test it? Seriously, who’s running the show here? I can’t believe after all the BS of the 2000 and 2004 elections and all the hubbub about Diebold voting machines that we’re dealing with technology issues at voting stations. The utter and complete incompetence blows my mind.

Luckily, the worst thing I can say about my voting location is there’s no indication that people are supposed to vote there. I had to walk in the school and ask where to vote. “Oh, I guess we should put up signs, huh?”

*Smack

Update [12:45 p.m.]: *Smack again. Just because I felt like it.

  1. […] So much for technology however, I am relieved that I can still read Erik’s blog. […]

  2. You think they *want* to fix the “problems” with the voting machines? This is a company that makes ATM machines. How long would it take before the banks of the world would have Diebold fix problems with ATMs? Diebold has the process and the expertise in place; why hasn’t it been fixed?

As much as I don’t like conspiracy theories, this one is almost too obvious.

  3. I won’t disagree with you there. Voting machines require very little input and there’s very little information to track. Compare voting with filling out a form for insurance, or taxes, or…whatevuh. What is it, like 1/3 of the information? Not even that much? If Diebold can’t handle the collection of that much data, I seriously wonder why they keep getting business.

Has anyone traced any ties between Diebold management and prominent politicians? Hmmm…
